To reduce the risk of losing valued business or talent, for Ikon Hair Cork's team, clients and other stakeholders, was:

1. WHY/HOW Ikon operates (Culture)

2. WHAT's Ikon's plan (Strategy)

3. WHO Ikon values (People)

connected i.e. defined, linked and communicated? In theory, yes. Irrelevant of business sector or size though, and with War for Talent 2.0 in the mix, we all know that the devil is truly in the detail.

Organizationally, many companies feel that their culture, strategy and people are connected, as in the big picture of same is 'out there' for employees, customers and candidates. Is this optimally the case though? On what are we basing that belief? How do we really know either way?

Individually is the ultimate litmus test here. For example, if we were to chat with an employee at any level, would they articulate a tangible personal connection with helping achieve or exceed business goals, and to staying with the organization? Could they tell us a succinct story about the company, list the values and this year's objectives? This would validate a connected workplace.

Successfully operating since 1999, Ikon Hair Cork has previously won each of National Salon of the Year and National Training Salon of the Year three times, with owner Valerie Finnegan Cahill also winning both National and Cork Businesswoman of the Year along the way. Some pedigree. 20 years on, and with an exciting next phase ahead, it is time though to really connect Ikon for going forward.

Incorporating Valerie's stellar prework ongoing since late 2018, and as discussed during two prior meetings, on March 19th we ran a #IkonConnection workshop with the team at the recently opened and highly impressive Maldron Hotel South Mall. It is fair to say that all in the room were blown away as to how passionately the team engaged in seeking further Connection and to how much was achieved in an afternoon, including design or redesign of the following for 2019 and beyond:

Culture: Ikon company values, optimized to Integrity, Pride and Education

Strategy: Ikon measurable objectives, focusing on business, clients and team

People: Ikon Talent initiatives, initially re brand, management and engagement 

For Ikon, there is now three purposeful focuses, one productive plan and one engaging story. We are really looking forward to staying connected with the team in 2019 as this roadmap equates to even greater quantifiable success.
